Authorities have charged Daniel Stern, the actor famous for his role in “Home Alone,” with solicitation of prostitution, as confirmed by multiple sources.
A representative from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office stated that the alleged solicitation occurred on December 10 at a motel located in Camarillo. Stern was formally charged on January 12, and his initial arraignment date of January 13 was postponed to February 6.
Stern, who is now 68 years old, is best recognized for portraying Marv, one of the bumbling thieves in the beloved holiday movie from the 1990s. That character, alongside his partner, broke into the McAllister family’s home in Chicago.
After achieving fame, Stern decided to step away from the Hollywood scene to embrace a quieter life with his wife. They moved to a farm in Ventura, where he tends to cattle and cultivates crops.
Beyond “Home Alone,” Stern has also appeared in classic films like “Breaking Away” and “City Slickers,” as well as in the series “The Wonder Years.” Reflecting on his career, he once mentioned how he made so much money during the ’80s and ’90s that he felt he didn’t have to work much. He described feeling obligated to take advantage of his success, although he acknowledged making some poor choices along the way.
Interestingly, Stern almost missed out on the role of Marv due to what he described as the “stupidest decision” in his career, initially withdrawing from the project over contractual issues before ultimately being convinced to return after a few days of rehearsals.
These days, he shares bits of his farming life on social media, even showcasing the oranges he grows. He recently shared how he processes them into juice to share with friends, giving supporters a glimpse into his life away from the film industry.
