Investigation Into University Researcher for Violent Comments
A non-binary researcher at the University of Washington is currently under scrutiny for allegedly suggesting that conservatives should be assassinated, drawing comparisons to Charlie Kirk. This troubling statement surfaced in a social media post made by Mala Mohan, who uses she/they pronouns.
Mohan commented on a video shared by Corey DeAngelis, the executive director of the Institute for Educational Freedom. The video features Democratic Washington state Sen. Jamie Pedersen dodging a question about whether men have a biological advantage in sports. In a comment, Mohan wrote, “I wish you all a Tyler Robinson.”
Robinson is facing trial for the alleged assassination of a conservative activist at a Turning Point USA event in Utah on September 10, 2025.
Mohan is identified as RSE1 on the University of Wisconsin’s Fuller Institute website, where she is listed under “Research and Laboratory Staff” in the Department of Microbiology. She holds a union-based position at the university, with an office located on the South Lake Union campus.
DeAngelis posted a screenshot of Mohan’s comments on the platform X, noting that Mohan appears to have since deleted her social media accounts.
DeAngelis expressed deep concern over the “violent rhetoric” from Mohan and others, emphasizing that such language “normalizes political violence.” He argued that it creates a dangerous environment that threatens freedoms and safety in both academic and broader contexts.
Mohan previously referred to themselves as an “autistic trans vaccine scientist” in other social media commentary. In response to the situation, a spokesperson from Women’s Medicine stated they condemn violence and are investigating the reported concerns, which will include a thorough review of the facts and applicable policies.
DeAngelis thanked the university for beginning to address the issue after significant public reaction but insisted that their forthcoming actions will reveal their true commitment to condemning violence, urging serious disciplinary measures against Mohan.
Mohan has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Her remarks coincided with ongoing Supreme Court discussions regarding the participation of trans athletes in women’s sports.
