Trial of California “Party Mom” Accused of Imprisoning Minors
A California woman known as a “party mom” is facing serious allegations of essentially imprisoning young teenagers in her mansion, where she reportedly provided them with alcohol and observed them engaging in explicit acts. This was highlighted in court by a witness referred to as “Jane Doe 7.”
During her testimony in a San Jose courtroom, the girl expressed, “There was no getting away.” She recounted her experience of dating the son of Shannon O’Connor, who is 50 years old, when they were both just 14. They attended a party at O’Connor’s lavish $4 million home in 2020, which involved a lot of drinking, as reported by KRON.
O’Connor stands trial for allegedly hosting alcohol-fueled gatherings for freshmen from Los Gatos High School, where she not only supplied substantial amounts of alcohol but also watched minors perform sexual acts for her enjoyment.
After discovering that the girl had communicated with another boy, O’Connor confronted her angrily, saying, “We know what you did,” according to KRON. The witness described, “It was tougher to get away from her than from my son.” O’Connor seemed to effectively track her every move, leaving the girl feeling ashamed of her actions.
The teen shared how she felt isolated during the pandemic lockdown in 2020, which prompted her to go to what she called the “Party Palace.” “I felt like I had no one. I was lonely,” she testified.
On one occasion, O’Connor and the boy were in her SUV parked near a post office when police approached them. The girl noticed, “There were empty cans everywhere” in the vehicle.
O’Connor instructed the boy to place a duffel bag containing 30 beer cans into the trunk, remaining surprisingly calm throughout the situation, the girl recalled. After speaking with O’Connor, the police eventually left the scene.
Word of the parties eventually got back to concerned parents when children returned home intoxicated. One boy testified, “My mom was so upset that she texted Shannon.” O’Connor has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including child sexual abuse and providing alcohol to minors, facing a total of 63 felonies and misdemeanors.
