Mamdani's 'Renter Tsar' Aims for Everyone to Live in Public Housing

Video Raises Concerns Over Housing Policy Intentions

A video featuring Sea Weaver, dubbed the “rent czar” by New York Mayor Zoran Mamdani, has surfaced, showcasing her candid admission that she aims to push all Americans towards public housing.

While the video’s exact date remains uncertain, Weaver’s intentions are unmistakable. Her approach to rent control is framed as a tactic to disrupt the housing market. When the government intervenes to dictate rental prices, it tends to devalue properties overall.

In her comments, she outlined what some may view as an alarming objective:

“We have concluded that advocating for rent control is a crucial first step towards achieving comprehensive public housing. By implementing rent control, we can actively challenge the profit-driven logic that dominates the real estate market. We aim to contest the notion of housing as merely a tool for wealth accumulation, impacting the entire real estate sector through regulation.”

Weaver continued, “Rent control helps minimize the speculative nature of real estate. Property value no longer hinges on what landlords might demand but is instead dictated by a public commission guided by the real estate sector. There could be better regulatory methods, but the core idea is that a focused rent control initiative can weaken the industry, ultimately bolstering our campaign for public housing.”

The sentiment is intriguing and perhaps unsettling.

As I’ve been cautioning, there seems to be an overarching goal within the Democratic Party to funnel people into struggling urban areas, ultimately pressuring us into congested, perilous public housing. Oddly enough, and I might just be connecting dots here, but my first novel Borrowed Time kind of predicted this scenario. It illustrated a future where the government utilizes fear and shame to corral us into city living and public housing, making societal control easier through factors like rampant consumerism and criminal behavior.

This isn’t just a random coincidence with the Weaver video; the trajectory has been visible for years. If we let the left gain more power, it appears obvious where we are headed. Wealthy individuals can often be swayed due to their inherent interests, while poorer demographics can be easily influenced through grievances. The middle class, however, poses a significant challenge to their ideology. Why? Because we often find satisfaction in our lives, particularly in rural settings, and all we want is to be left in peace.

Hence, figures like Mamdani and Weaver, while unsettling, demonstrate a clear intent to disrupt property ownership. Property ownership is fundamentally tied to independence for many in the middle class. Even if one isn’t wealthy, owning a home facilitates retirement and allows for a desirable lifestyle. Weaver’s vision involves the state taking on the role of landlord; without personal ownership, one becomes dependent, almost like a servant to the state.

With the state as landlord, residents must adhere to its regulations. That’s precisely what Democrats appear to advocate—complete control over citizens’ lives.

Many of their policies, encompassing zoning, environmental regulations, immigration laws, and permitting, seem crafted to reduce housing availability and complicate life in rural areas. I suggest checking out my book for a deeper exploration of these issues; I think you might find it thought-provoking.
