RockStar Games Prohibits 'Grand Theft Auto Online' User-Generated Missions Mimicking Charlie Kirk's Assassination

Rockstar Games Bans Player-Created Missions Related to Charlie Kirk

Rockstar Games has taken action against player-generated missions in Grand Theft Auto Online, specifically those that depict the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Additionally, they’ve added “Charlie Kirk” to the list of terms flagged by their content filter.

This content moderation tool, originally labeled the “profanity filter,” has been renamed to indicate its broader role in identifying inappropriate content beyond just profanity.

The name change reflects the company’s efforts to prevent real-life incidents, like Kirk’s assassination, from being represented in their game.

Since launching in December, GTA Online has allowed players to create their own missions. Some of these user-made missions have included scenarios involving the assassination of Kirk.

One specific mission, titled “We are Charlie Kirk,” involved players taking shots at a character resembling Kirk from a rooftop, overlooking an area reminiscent of a courtyard similar to where he was killed on September 10th.

Though this mission was eventually taken down by Rockstar, videos of it still circulate online.

Another recording available on YouTube shows a shooter targeting a man conversing under a tent, which directly references the event from Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback” tour.

Various other missions inspired by Kirk’s assassination have also been eliminated, as reported by multiple sources.

This troubling trend of player-created content points to some concerning societal issues that emerged following Kirk’s death.

Reports indicated that after news of his assassination broke, some individuals, including educators and public figures, expressed disturbing support online.

This reaction has prompted investigations and consequences for several individuals across the U.S.

Interestingly, the celebration from some teachers is a reflection of the leftist extremism that the founders of Turning Point USA have long highlighted as an issue within the American educational landscape.
