FBI Arrests Most Wanted Fugitive in Mexico
On Saturday, the FBI reported the arrest of Alejandro Rosales Castillo, a fugitive who has been on the agency’s most wanted list since 2017.
FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed that Castillo was apprehended in Mexico. He is wanted for the 2016 murder of “Sandy” Lee Lee, a 23-year-old former colleague, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Patel commented, “Alejandro Castillo is the fifth individual from the FBI’s top 10 most wanted list captured since last year, a number greater than in the previous four years combined. This reflects leadership, not luck. When law enforcement is given clear support and freedom to act, results follow. The collaboration among the FBI Charlotte Field Office, state and local partners, and Mexican authorities was exceptional. This arrest finally brings long-awaited justice to Sandy Lee Lee’s family.”
Rep. Pat Harrington, from North Carolina, commended the successful capture and expressed gratitude to the FBI’s Charlotte office for their relentless efforts in tracking down Castillo.
Harrington stated, “Nearly nine years after the murder in Charlotte, the killer is finally in custody. Thank you for your persistence,” expressing appreciation for the work done by the FBI and local law enforcement to restore justice in North Carolina.
Castillo reportedly owed Lee $1,000 and vanished after agreeing to meet her at a gas station. Later, her car was found in Phoenix.
He was added to the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list in October 2017. Two other suspects have also been charged in connection with the case. According to reports, Ahmia Feaster had been listed as a missing person before turning herself in to authorities in 2017 and was extradited back to North Carolina. She faces several charges, including being an accessory after the fact.
A third individual, Felipe Ulloa, was charged in March 2017 with aiding and abetting murder related to Lee’s case.
This is an evolving situation. Stay tuned for further updates.
