WH asks Nobel Foundation to acknowledge Trump's 'unmatched achievements'

Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Controversy

WASHINGTON – White House communications director Stephen Chan urged the Nobel Foundation on Sunday to at least acknowledge President Trump’s “unprecedented accomplishments,” even if they cannot award him the Peace Prize.

During a meeting on Thursday, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Colina Machado presented President Trump with the 18-karat gold Nobel Peace Prize medal she received last year.

The Nobel Foundation has made it clear that awards are intended for individuals who have made significant contributions to humanity, stating that prize transfers are not permitted, even symbolically.

“Therefore, the prize may not be transferred or further distributed,” they emphasized.

In response to the foundation’s stance, Chan criticized their lack of recognition for Trump, arguing that he “rightly deserves the Nobel Peace Prize” for his role in resolving global conflicts. He suggested that instead of playing politics, the focus should be on highlighting the president’s notable achievements.

Machado won the Nobel Peace Prize in October for her dedication to promoting democratic rights in Venezuela and working towards a peaceful transition from dictatorship. As the recipient, she was set to receive over $1 million.

President Trump has openly expressed his aspiration to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Following Machado’s victory, she announced her intention to dedicate the award to him, acknowledging his efforts to intensify pressure on Venezuela.
