Intruder Shot by Homeowner in Redlands, California

The Redlands Police Department in California reported that officers responded to a call about gunfire just before midnight on Thursday at a residence on Church Street, located about 15 minutes southeast of San Bernardino.

Upon arrival, police stated that the homeowner, having armed himself with a handgun, searched the property and encountered an intruder who brandished a shotgun. In the ensuing confrontation, the homeowner shot the intruder.

After the incident, the homeowner exited the house and called 911. When police arrived, they searched the property and found a blood trail leading to the backyard, where the suspect was discovered with a single gunshot wound.

It was reported that the suspect had stolen items from the home, and authorities also found the shotgun that the suspect had in his possession.

Police identified the intruder as 52-year-old Daniel Torres Carrion from Redlands, who was arrested for suspected robbery, attempted robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital but has since been released and is now detained at the West Valley Detention Center on a $300,000 bail.
