EUR/USD Dynamics: Recent Trends and Technical Insights

The EUR/USD exchange rate saw minimal movement after a slight uptick in the prior session, hovering around 1.1640 during Asian trading on Tuesday. The 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits at 44, which indicates a neutral to bearish momentum, suggesting a decrease in buying interest.

Looking at the daily chart from a technical standpoint, the EUR/USD pair remains below both the 50-day and the 9-day exponential moving averages (EMAs). This positioning hints that the bearish sentiment is still valid. Notably, the short-term EMA is trailing the medium-term EMA, which is a sign of growing downward pressure.

As for any potential recovery, it seems likely to struggle beneath the 9-day and 50-day EMAs. If the pair closes below the seven-week low of 1.1589 set on December 1st, it could pave the way to the next support level around 1.1468, which would be the lowest point since August 2025.

Conversely, if the pair manages to break above the 9-day EMA at 1.1645, it might alleviate some selling pressure, setting the stage for a potential move toward the 50-day EMA at 1.1670. A gradual decline in this longer-term average indicates that sellers are still in control. However, if the price establishes a base above the medium-term average, it could restore balance. This would allow the EUR/USD to explore levels nearing 1.1808, the three-month high that occurred on December 24, eventually aiming for 1.1918, the peak seen since June 2021.
