Minnesota BLM leader boasts about aiding in church protest organization and likens them to Jesus

A leader from Black Lives Matter in Minnesota expressed pride over her involvement in protests that disrupted a church service, asserting that such actions align with what Jesus would do.

Chauntil Allen, a prominent figure in Black Lives Matter Twin Cities, told a media outlet that she played a significant role in mobilizing protesters who entered Cities Church in St. Paul during a Sunday service. The protesters were motivated by concerns that the church’s pastor was linked to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In her view, the protests were essential and even justified a federal investigation. Allen stated, “We needed to do it to get the message across,” highlighting a perceived threat from federal agents to local immigrant communities.

She referred to the pastor standing before the congregation each Sunday as “unacceptable,” emphasizing her concern over the potential impact on vulnerable families.

Allen, who has a background in the church, drew a parallel between their actions and Jesus’ historical acts against wrongdoing in sacred spaces. She recalled, “When things weren’t going well in the church, he would come in and flip tables,” suggesting the protesters aimed to similarly shake things up.

The protest occurred as the service started, with attendees accusing Pastor David Eastwood of working with ICE. Notably, Eastwood was not present during the protest, and authorities have not confirmed his role as the pastor linked to ICE. However, legal documents indicate that his personal details align with those of ICE’s acting field director in St. Paul.

Following the protests, the Justice Department announced an investigation into the events at the church.

In a response to the situation, former President Trump characterized the protesters as “highly trained” agitators, calling for them to face jail time or deportation.
