John Harbaugh Responds to Trump’s Endorsement
East Rutherford, New Jersey – New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh shared his thoughts on President Donald Trump’s endorsement during his first press conference in East Rutherford.
When asked how it felt to receive such support, Harbaugh grinned and said, “It feels really great. I also noticed he said, ‘And John, take the job!’ I wondered if John Mara had a hand in that. I’m not sure, but it’s pretty cool.” He seems genuinely enthusiastic about the situation.
He continued, “This is a sport that gets everyone hyped. People are passionate about football—at all levels. They follow the Giants, they follow the NFL. As we said, it’s the biggest sport and this is an iconic team.”
Earlier, President Trump praised Harbaugh while speaking to reporters at the White House after attending the College Football National Championship. Trump didn’t believe he influenced the decision but mentioned that the Giants had secured a “great coach.”
“I like the coach. I like his brother,” Trump noted. He recalled a visit from the Harbaugh family about three months back and added, “Their mom likes me, their dad likes me. I think they like me too.” He expressed strong confidence in Harbaugh’s potential success with the Giants, saying, “They have special blood in their veins. I’m happy for the Giants.” It’s interesting to see such strong backing.
Trump had initially supported Harbaugh via a post on Truth Social, stating, “The New York Football Giants should hire John Harbaugh without question. And John, the great guy, should take the job!!!” This endorsement certainly paints a picture of encouragement.
After their meeting with Trump, John Harbaugh shared his perspective, emphasizing the exceptional experience of visiting the White House with his family. He said, “You don’t get invited very often, and to have a chance to do something like that as a family is special.” It’s a moment he seemed to cherish.
Jim Harbaugh echoed these feelings, expressing gratitude for the invitation. He reflected on the significance of the family trip and concluded, “It was amazing.” It’s heartwarming, really, to see such a close-knit family bond in these moments.
The Ravens, under Harbaugh’s leadership, made the playoffs 12 times and won the Super Bowl in 2012, right after the Giants’ last championship win. It seems like a fitting connection as he steps into this new role.
