Former Rep. MTG discourages Trump's goal of acquiring Greenland.

Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican who stepped down earlier this year after her relationship with President Donald Trump soured, has expressed skepticism about Trump’s desire to bring Greenland into the United States. On Tuesday, she raised concerns about the financial implications, stating, “Our debt is approaching $40 trillion, and Social Security will be insolvent by 2033. Is anyone talking about how much it will cost the American people to occupy Greenland?”

She continued, emphasizing that simply stating it’s “for safety” isn’t convincing, recalling past situations that didn’t have positive outcomes.

Greene, once a Trump ally, has criticized support for the president as merely reinforcing a convoluted situation. According to recent data, the U.S. national debt exceeds $38.46 trillion. Trump has previously claimed that acquiring Greenland is essential for national security.

When asked about the extent of his ambitions regarding Greenland, Trump responded, “We’ll see.” He has articulated that Greenland is vital to what he calls the “Golden Dome” strategy, mentioning in a recent piece that “China and Russia want Greenland, and there is nothing Denmark can do about it.”

In this context, he warned that no one should threaten this “sacred land” due to its implications for U.S. and global security, asserting the need for acquiring both offensive and defensive capabilities, especially in light of modern weaponry.
