Mitch Trubisky’s Message After McDermott Firing
Hilary Trubisky, wife of Buffalo Bills backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky, shared a touching message on social media following the dismissal of head coach Sean McDermott.
In her Instagram Story, Trubisky expressed gratitude towards McDermott and his wife, Jamie. She mentioned how they contributed to making Buffalo feel like home, saying, “Jamie and Sean are a big reason Buffalo has always felt like home. Thank you both so much for everything you’ve done for our family on and off the field. We’re so lucky wherever we go next.”
She also included a personal note, saying, “I love you (Jamie). Nighttime dog walks with the kids, carpools, and selling slime will always have a special place in my heart. You are truly one of a kind and we are so lucky that our paths crossed.”
Mitch Trubisky returned to the Bills for a second stint in 2024 with a two-year, $5.25 million contract. Initially, he joined the team in 2021 after playing four seasons with the Chicago Bears. Although he had limited playing time during three seasons with quarterback Josh Allen, he performed well when given the chance.
In the recent game against the New York Jets, Trubisky came off the bench, completing 22 of 29 passes for 259 yards and four touchdowns, contributing to the team’s 35-8 victory. As a free agent this offseason, his future remains uncertain.
Regarding McDermott’s firing, Bills owner Terry Pegula noted that the decision was influenced by the team’s overtime loss to the Denver Broncos. During his nine seasons with the Bills, McDermott held a 98-50 record and was 16-8 in playoff games but fell short of guiding the team to a Super Bowl appearance.
