Judge in Nevada Announces Retirement Amid Stalking Allegations
A Nevada judge has decided to retire just days after a court granted a nondisclosure order against a lawyer who has accused her of stalking.
Washoe County Judge Bridget Robb, 63, has been implicated in stalking attorney Kelsey Binow for over a year, with incidents reportedly occurring at different locations in Reno, including Binow’s home and workplace, as noted in court documents.
The documents outline numerous alleged encounters, hinting at hundreds of similar incidents. Lawyers for Binow argue that from May 2024 until the temporary protection order was put in place last week, Robb displayed “deliberate, repeated and patterned” behavior that instilled fear and concerns for safety.
A hearing is set for February 13th to determine if the protective order should be extended.
Binow mentioned that despite requesting Robb to cease her actions multiple times, the behavior persisted. Eventually, Binow sought assistance from law enforcement.
Following the issuance of the protective order, Chief District Judge Egan Walker removed Robb from all case and committee responsibilities temporarily. Furthermore, a spokesperson from the court indicated that an internal investigation is underway regarding these allegations.
On Thursday, Robb announced her retirement, stating it was “in the best interest of the court, my family and the community.” She also mentioned that she will withdraw from her candidacy for the 2nd Judicial District Court.
It’s worth noting that she was in the race for a seat in Family Court Division 13 and had planned to challenge District Judge Kathleen Sigurdsson in Division 10 instead.
Robb has been on the bench for nearly two decades, having been appointed in 2006 by former Governor Kenny Guinn. A Reno police investigation began last year, during which officers monitored the fitness studio that Binow often visited. Reports suggest detectives noted Robb loitering in the vicinity of the gym while Binow was working out.
Recently, Robb was reportedly stopped by police after they observed her running around the area. During questioning, she allegedly confessed to stalking Binow, with the incident being recorded on a detective’s body camera. In her defense, Robb claimed that she was “gathering information” and described her behavior as a way of coping with a previous relationship.
