Surveillance footage has surfaced showing a shocking robbery at a luxury handbag store in California. Early Sunday morning, just before 4 a.m., Bella Abbey and Ava Boutique in Newport Beach was targeted by a trio of masked thieves who smashed through the front door and made off with bags overflowing with high-end wallets.
Owner Jennifer Sprenger recounted how they immediately headed for the Chanel display, taking everything, and then moved to Hermès. “In just three minutes, with a team like that, it’s pretty easy to clear out a lot,” she noted. “All the jewelry was taken away. It’s really sad. It’s heartbreaking.”
In total, the culprits stole over $200,000 worth of luxury goods before escaping in two new luxury vehicles, a BMW 4 Series and a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Gran Coupe, both lacking visible license plates.
Sprenger expressed frustration, stating, “We cannot allow these criminals to just walk around and continue to rob and steal from people. I’m a single mother with three daughters in college, and it’s wrong for them to take away half of my inventory.”
Just a year after opening, she suspects the thieves knew the store’s layout well, having possibly observed the security measures beforehand. “They turned off the video cameras and pointed the cameras. How could they have known where this was? It feels like a very well thought out and planned attack,” she said.
In light of the incident, Sprenger has engaged a private investigator and is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspects’ arrests. “I did everything I could to secure the place, but they clearly knew what they were doing. It’s obvious this isn’t their first time,” she added, clearly shaken by the event.
