Lane Kiffin from LSU secures top tackle from Deion Sanders at Colorado in significant transfer portal success

Lane Kiffin’s latest recruiting success has dealt a significant setback to Deion Sanders and his program.

Jordan Seaton, a sophomore offensive tackle from Colorado, announced on Friday that he’s transferring to LSU to join the Tigers under new head coach Kiffin.

Seaton is a highly regarded player, ranking fourth in the transfer portal and among the top tackles, according to On3.

“Thank you Coach Kiffin, LSU, and Louisiana State for giving me the opportunity to chase greatness,” Seaton shared in a video about his decision.

This move is a considerable boost for Kiffin, who aims to assemble a championship-caliber team following his controversial exit from Ole Miss.

He has previously brought in Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt, the number one player in the portal, and edge rusher Prince Will Umanmiehlen as well.

LSU currently holds the top position for transfer portal classes; 247 Sports noted that Kiffin has added 41 players to his roster this offseason, with ESPN confirming this growth.

The 6-foot-5, 330-pound Seaton has received All-Big 12 second-team honors after participating in nine games last season, despite facing a season-ending injury.

Remarkably, he didn’t allow any sacks during those games, as ESPN reported.

Setting a record, he started the most games (13) for a true freshman in Colorado’s history, entering as a highly touted five-star prospect.

Seaton’s departure is a tough loss for Sanders and the Buffaloes, who finished 3-9 last season. This raises concerns about the program’s future direction.

While Colorado had a successful 9-4 season in 2024, thanks to Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedur Sanders, they struggled last year after both players moved on to the NFL.

With a record of just 16-21 over three seasons with the Buffaloes, Sanders faces a challenging road ahead, particularly as the hype surrounding him hasn’t translated to consistent success on the field.

Adding to the difficulties, the Buffaloes’ transfer class is ranked only 22nd, which leaves significant gaps on their offensive line.
