Lane Kiffin Triggers Controversy with Social Media Post

Lane Kiffin, the head coach of LSU, is no stranger to being in the news, and he’s managed to stir things up again this week. He shared a post on social media that notably tagged former President Donald Trump.

This isn’t the first time Kiffin has faced criticism. He drew significant backlash when he left Ole Miss to become the head coach at LSU while Ole Miss was in the middle of a championship run. Now, with his recent post, he’s caught the public’s eye once more.

On Friday, Kiffin posted a picture showcasing two LSU-themed hats with the slogan “Make Baton Rouge Great,” clearly echoing Trump’s familiar phrase, “Make America Great Again.” The internet had a mixed reaction to this attempt at humor, which ultimately led Kiffin to delete the post. He later re-uploaded the image, this time tagging LSU instead of Trump, but users quickly reminded him with comments like, “The internet remembers.”

In another attempt to navigate the situation, Kiffin acknowledged the previous controversy with a message for both LSU and Ole Miss fans, stating, “We can all get along.” His post included a playful reminder that “red and blue make purple,” which was an interesting touch.

Kiffin, who recently signed a hefty seven-year contract worth $91 million, is among the highest-paid coaches in college football. Interestingly, part of the agreement with LSU included honoring the bonus structure from his previous contract with Ole Miss.

Additionally, after his team’s semifinal defeat, Kiffin did manage to secure a $500,000 bonus. It’s all quite a whirlwind, isn’t it? Kiffin seems to always be right at the center of attention, for better or worse.
