A disturbing new video has surfaced, revealing the chaotic moments leading up to the shooting of an armed man by federal agents in Minneapolis. This man allegedly attempted to hinder the arrest of a criminal immigrant.
The footage, which has circulated on social media, provides a gripping look at the conflict. It unfolded as whistleblower protesters observed approximately six federal agents restraining a man, later identified as Alex Jeffrey Preti.
“What’s going on?” a woman filming the scene can be heard asking in the three-minute clip.
“What’s happening, guys? What’s wrong?” she shouts repeatedly as the situation escalates.
In the midst of the frenzy, officers overwhelmed Mr. Preti, who had sustained gunshot wounds. They pinned him on the icy ground when one immigration officer, in a sudden turn, fired off more than a dozen shots.
A bystander recording the unsettling events screamed as the gunfire erupted, exclaiming, “What did you do?!” as people lay sprawled on the ground.
The video further shows ICE officers cautiously backing away, with some remaining ready, guns trained on the 37-year-old.
“Oh my god, oh my god! What have you done?” the distressed woman yells in the footage.
“Someone, please call an ambulance! Call 9-1-1! I can’t believe they just did that!”
On that chilly Saturday morning, tensions ran high as law enforcement secured the area around West 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue in south Minneapolis. Tragically, Preti was declared dead at the scene.
The Department of Homeland Security reported that Preti approached a U.S. Border Patrol agent while brandishing a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
“Officers tried to disarm the suspect, but he violently resisted,” the DHS stated.
“One investigator fired a defensive shot out of fear for both his life and those of his colleagues.”
