Turning Point USA’s Tour Sparks Outrage Over Church Protest
Riverside, California — Participants of Turning Point USA’s “Make Heaven Crowded” tour, which recently began in Riverside, expressed their disgust over a church protest in Minneapolis. This incident followed a chaotic scene where anti-ICE activists disrupted a church service at Cities Church.
During the Sunday service, a participant shared their thoughts with a media outlet. Brooklyn voiced that such disruptions should be dealt with immediately, emphasizing, “I don’t think it’s right to protest negative things in church. When you’re in church, it’s about connecting with God. Protests are, well, negative. If you’re going to protest, do it elsewhere.” There’s a sense that spaces for worship should remain undisturbed, perhaps.
Joey echoed this sentiment, calling the protest “totally disgusting.” He said, “If you’re here to make a point or hold a sign, then do that.” However, he firmly believes violence or aggression shouldn’t be part of the church environment. “All we’re trying to do is share the gospel,” he explained.
Caitlin expressed her sadness over the attack on what she described as a “place of worship.” She mentioned that such spaces deserve respect. On a similar note, Maddy highlighted the importance of freedom of speech but stressed mutual respect, stating, “Regardless of beliefs, we should respect others.” Tatum added that church protests can feel unsafe and suggested, “Take it somewhere else.” Bela Rocha, meanwhile, proposed that maybe God can act as a common ground for different perspectives.
In a follow-up, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that two anti-ICE activists were arrested following the incident in St. Paul. The suspects were identified as Chauntil Louisa Allen and William Kelly.
William Kelly, named in the FBI’s announcement, faces charges related to the church disturbance. “William Kelly is in custody,” FBI Director Kash Patel stated, noting a third suspect also faced arrest during the protests. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem underscored the seriousness of the charges against Kelly, indicating they are significant federal offenses.
Bondi remarked on the fundamental nature of religious freedom in the country, stating, “We will protect our pastors. We will protect our churches.” In a separate video, Kelly had previously referred to Bondi in an accusatory manner.
The “Make Heaven Crowded” tour is set to include 28 events across the U.S., with several dates already confirmed. A lineup of speakers, including various Christian influencers and pastors, will attend these gatherings.
