Order for Border Patrol Chief to Leave Minneapolis Amid Controversy

In a surprising turn of events, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino, along with several agents, has been instructed to depart from Minneapolis following the fatal shooting of a second American in the city this month.

Not every Border Patrol agent is affected, and the order does not apply to ICE personnel. Bovino, however, is expected to leave the state “soon” to support investigators, according to reports.

The recent turmoil in Minnesota escalated after January 7, when Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother and anti-ICE activist, was shot by ICE agents after driving toward an SUV.

The situation further intensified when another individual, armed ICU nurse Alex Preti, was shot and killed during an altercation. Authorities suspect his firearm may have been drawn accidentally, leading to the exchange of gunfire.

During the incident, Preti, also 37, was positioned between a group of protesters and ICE agents, carrying a handgun on his belt. He was tackled and disarmed by Border Patrol agents before the fatal shooting occurred.

Tensions surged following Preti’s death, prompting even some Republican lawmakers to suggest that the Department of Homeland Security should withdraw its personnel, a notable departure from President Trump’s policies.

Bovino, over the weekend, labeled Preti a “domestic terrorist” who was scheming to execute a “massacre” against immigration agents, blaming Governor Tim Walz and other Democrats for inflaming the situation.

In a shift, President Trump seemed to soften his stance on the matter. On Monday, he mentioned a constructive conversation with Governor Walz regarding the unfolding crisis.

“Governor Tim Walz called me and asked me to work with him on Minnesota. It was a very good call. We were actually on the same wavelength,” Trump shared on Truth Social.
