Toddler almost hit by a vehicle after falling from a moving car, mother taken into custody

A disturbing video shows a toddler leaping from a car in a busy intersection in Fullerton, California.

The child’s mother, Jacqueline Hernandez, 35, was taken into custody on Monday, facing felony child abuse charges after the shocking footage circulated widely on social media.

The video captures Hernandez rushing out to rescue her 19-month-old child, nearly colliding with a vehicle behind her. The incident took place on January 20 when Hernandez’s black SUV turned left at the intersection of West Malvern Street and North Euclid Street, resulting in the child falling from the passenger side.

The young child was transported to a local hospital and is expected to fully recover.

A witness provided crucial information to the police a few days later, leading to Hernandez’s arrest.

Christy Wells, a spokesperson for the Fullerton Police Department, expressed gratitude that the child did not suffer more severe injuries. She emphasized the importance of using child safety seats. “It can save your child’s life,” she stated.

The investigation is still active, and law enforcement encourages anyone with additional information to reach out to the Fullerton Police Department.
