A recent incident in Minnesota captured the dramatic moment a handcuffed migrant, fleeing from federal immigration agents, lost his balance on black ice, falling face-first onto the frozen pavement.
Images show the unidentified individual sprinting away from ICE agents on a Minneapolis street when he suddenly slipped and fell, ending up on the icy ground. He was eventually restrained by the authorities.
Prior to this unfortunate tumble, a video circulating on social media depicted the man being detained by several federal officers in a strip mall parking lot. Shortly after, he managed to break free and take off, while his wife and child looked on, visibly upset.
As the chase unfolded, a woman filming the scene could be heard shouting, “Don’t shoot!” in the background.
The Department of Homeland Security has not yet provided any comments regarding the situation. Given the current sub-zero temperatures affecting Minnesota, this incident isn’t entirely surprising.
Interestingly, social media has recently showcased a number of clips featuring ICE agents slipping on icy Minneapolis streets while pursuing fugitives, highlighting the challenges of such operations in harsh weather conditions.
Since January 7, Minneapolis has experienced periods of chaotic tension, notably following the tragic shooting of 37-year-old anti-ICE activist Renee Good, who was killed by agents after attempting to accelerate toward an SUV.
Similarly, another American, an armed ICU nurse named Preti, was shot and killed recently, with reports suggesting Border Patrol might have fired multiple shots in response to a confrontation involving a weapon.
During that incident, the 37-year-old man had positioned himself between the protesters and ICE agents but was tackled and disarmed before the fatal shooting took place.
In light of these events, President Trump is reassessing his immigration enforcement strategy in Minneapolis. He announced a plan to send Tom Homan, the border czar, to the state to help coordinate local enforcement. Trump also indicated a desire to ease tensions by engaging with Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, both of whom are Democrats.
