Undocumented Immigrant Arrested for Child Rape
Federal authorities are pursuing custody of an undocumented immigrant charged with the rape of an 11-year-old girl, while her younger sister was in the same room.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained 26-year-old Kenneth Moreno Guzman, a Mexican national, who is accused of raping the girl at knifepoint in a mobile home park in Statesboro, Georgia, during the early days of January. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed these details.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin expressed her outrage, calling it “another horrific tragedy for two innocent children at the hands of criminal illegal aliens.” She noted that such individuals shouldn’t be in the U.S. in the first place.
McLaughlin added, “These are the victims that President Trump and Secretary Noem are fighting for, while the media and sanctuary politicians turn a blind eye. We’ve filed a motion to ensure ICE is alerted to apprehend this criminal before he can harm more children.”
On January 12, Guzman allegedly broke into the home and held the young girls at knife point. Reports indicate he assaulted the 11-year-old but thankfully did not harm her 10-year-old sister.
The DHS mentioned that Guzman faces several serious charges, including rape, child molestation, and burglary. He is currently detained by the Bullock County Sheriff’s Office without bail and is expected to remain in custody throughout the legal proceedings.
Guzman originally entered the United States illegally in 2016 and was deported, only to illegally re-enter at a later time, which is a felony under U.S. law. Remarkably, the two girls lived in the same neighborhood but had never met prior to the incident; Guzman had seen the 11-year-old girl before and stated he was “attracted to her.”
Interestingly, Guzman had previous encounters with law enforcement, having been arrested earlier in 2023 for driving without a valid license. However, it remains uncertain how quickly ICE will be able to take him into custody. The Sheriff’s Office has stated that he will not be released under any circumstances until after the court case concludes.
Historically, Georgia law enforcement has collaborated with federal immigration agencies, especially following high-profile incidents, such as the murder of a nursing student by an illegal immigrant. There have been legal requirements placed on prison guards to detain undocumented immigrants sought by ICE to maintain state funding.
