Protests Against ICE Target Minnesota Governor

Demonstrators opposing ICE have turned their attention to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, following a recent mass shooting involving a federal agent.

Social media footage captured groups of protesters outside his office at the Minnesota State Capitol, calling for the arrest of police officers linked to two notable fatal shootings.

“ICE came to Minnesota to target our communities, and what they found in Minnesota was their coffin and the end of ICE!” one speaker declared.

The rally was organized by the Minnesota Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which characterized the event as a “peaceful rally calling for the prosecution and arrest of the murderous ICE agents.”

In social media posts, images of Renee Good, who was fatally struck by a federal agent, and Alex Preti, who was killed while trying to intervene, were shared to highlight these tragic events.

Amidst the protest, attendees chanted, “What do we want? We want ICE! When do we want it? Now!” A Times editor suggested that Governor Walz was not present during the demonstrations.

One sign boldly read “F**k ICE,” while another declared “Justice, not gestures.” Another moment from the protest featured shouts of, “Justice delayed is justice denied!”

During the roughly 15-minute protest outside the Governor’s office, Jaylani Hussein, Executive Director of CAIR Minnesota, emphasized, “We will end it. We know how to deal with ICE. Whether we sit on it, melt it down, whatever we do, we’re going to continue to stand up for each other.”

He also commended the Border Patrol Chief for withdrawing operations in Minneapolis, signaling a small but significant change amid ongoing tensions.
