Elon Musk suggests SpaceX plans to go public around his birthday and a planetary alignment, according to a report.

Elon Musk is reportedly aiming for SpaceX’s potential record-breaking initial public offering (IPO) to align with both a unique planetary alignment and his birthday in June.

The wealthiest person in the world plans to initiate the IPO around mid-June. At that time, Jupiter and Venus will have their first “conjunction” in three years. This information comes from sources familiar with the situation.

Musk will turn 55 on June 28th.

SpaceX, the private aerospace company engaged in significant contracts with NASA and offering the Starlink broadband service, is looking to raise as much as $50 billion with a valuation set at $1.5 billion.

This IPO could be the largest in history by amount raised, exceeding Saudi Aramco’s $29 billion offering back in 2019.

However, the exact timing and size of the IPO could still change, according to insiders.

Musk is known for adding a quirky twist to his business endeavors. For instance, in 2018, he famously tweeted that he was considering taking Tesla public at $420 a share, a reference that drew attention for its implications.

He revisited the $420 theme in 2022 when he attempted to acquire Twitter for $54.20 per share, totaling around $44 billion.

Major financial firms like Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley are anticipated to play key roles in SpaceX’s IPO, with the possibility of other banks joining in.

SpaceX’s Chief Financial Officer Brett Johnsen indicated back in December that going public might happen in 2026, although he emphasized that the specifics remain quite uncertain. He has also been in discussions with current private investors about executing an IPO mid-year.

This influx of funds could finance some of Musk’s ambitious plans, which include creating colonies on the Moon and Mars. Moreover, he is also keen on establishing a space-based data center for artificial intelligence.

The Post has reached out to SpaceX for any comments on these developments.
