Bruce Springsteen Releases Protest Song Against ICE and Trump
Bruce Springsteen has unveiled a new protest song titled “Streets Of Minneapolis,” which targets ICE and criticizes President Trump, referring to him as “King Trump.”
In this track, Springsteen escalates his stark rhetoric, labeling ICE as “occupiers” and “thugs” while commending anti-ICE protesters who’ve faced violence. He describes these individuals as “citizens who stood up for justice.”
Interestingly, Springsteen does not mention the extended periods of unrest caused by anti-ICE demonstrations or the many dangerous criminals ICE and Border Patrol have apprehended. These include offenders involved in serious crimes like rape, drug trafficking, and murder.
lyrics:
Breaking through winter’s chill
along Nicollet Avenue
the city’s battle of fire and ice
“Under the Occupier’s Boots”
King Trump’s Private Army at DHS
Secure that weapon to your coat with a belt
I arrived in Minneapolis to enforce the law.
Or perhaps their narrative is different
amidst smoke and rubber bullets
in the early morning light
Citizens stood up for what’s right
their voices echo through the dark
Bloody footprints marked the ground
where mercy once stood
And two souls were lost in the snow.
Alex Preti and Renee GoodOh, our Minneapolis, we hear you
singing through the fog of blood
We will defend this land.
And a stranger amongst us
They wandered here, taking lives in our home.
In the winter of 26
we remember those who fell
on the streets of Minneapolis.Federal agents under President Trump’s orders strike
as I heard the shots ring out
And Alex Preti lay lifeless in the snow.
Their defense was self-preservation, they claimed.
Just don’t trust your senses
it’s our lives that matter
And these cries and sirens
against Miller and Noem’s bleak fabrications.Oh, our Minneapolis, we hear you
crying in a fog of blood
we remember those who have died
on the streets of minneapolis. Now they assert they’re here to maintain order.
But they walk all over our rights
if your skin is black or brown, my friend.
Simply being visible can spark suspicion and deportation.Join the chant against ICE now
The spirit of our city endures
Through shattered glass and bloodied tears
on the streets of minneapolis.Oh, Minneapolis, we hear you
singing through the fog of blood
They roamed around, taking lives in our home.
In the winter of 26
We will defend this land.
And a stranger amongst us
we remember those who died
on the streets of minneapolis
we remember those who died
on the streets of minneapolis.
Springsteen took to social media to explain the song’s release.
“I composed this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday, and made it public today as a reaction to the state-sponsored violence occurring in Minneapolis,” he posted on Blue Sky. “This is for the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors, and in memory of Alex Preti and Renee Good. Stay free.”
Springsteen has shown strong support for President Biden, who has faced criticism over the current southern border policies, prompting Trump to promise one of the most extensive deportation plans in history. He also endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who plans to continue Biden’s foreign policy.
