ICE Arrests Daughter of Cuban General
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently took into custody Alina Rosales Aguilereta, daughter of General Ulises Rosales del Toro, a significant figure in the communist Castro regime. The announcement was made on Tuesday, with ICE confirming the arrest took place in Florida. Reports describe Rosales Aguilereta as a doctor, following statements from her family. Her father, General Rosales del Toro, is noted for being part of the Cuban regime’s “old guard,” a group that maintains a low profile yet holds substantial political and military power, deeply connected to both Fidel Castro and his brother Raul.
Over the years, Rosales del Toro has occupied various high-ranking roles within the Cuban government and Communist Party, including Vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers. He has also served as a minister and chief of staff of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), earning the honorary title of “Hero of the Republic of Cuba.”
Reports from Marti Noticias indicate that Rosales Aguilereta had been residing in Miami since February, having entered the U.S. with a B-1/B-2 nonimmigrant visa issued in Havana in 2023 during former President Joe Biden’s tenure. She is said to be in south Florida working on adjusting her immigration status.
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Florida) expressed a strong stance following the arrest, stating that “the Castro regime’s henchmen and their accomplices have no place in the United States,” and he praised the operation in a social media post.
The family of Ulises Rosales del Toro has long been viewed as part of the privileged elite of the Cuban regime, leading a life of luxury in stark contrast to the struggles faced by many in Cuba. Reports suggest they are linked to a range of businesses associated with the regime’s conglomerate, GAESA. Images and social media posts have surfaced showing the family enjoying vacations and various luxuries, which stand in sharp relief to the poverty that many Cubans endure.
While Alina Rosales Aguilereta lives in Miami, other family members lead extravagant lives abroad. For instance, her sister, Zulema Rosales Aguilereta, reportedly resides in Cancun, Mexico, operates several businesses, and frequently returns to Cuba.
This arrest marks the second notable case involving a relative of a Cuban regime official in the U.S. Recently, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the arrest of Addis Lastres-Morera, sister of the president of GAESA. Like Rosales Aguilereta, she entered the U.S. under the Biden administration and had obtained a green card through her American citizen son. Rubio has indicated that her status was suspended due to her involvement in running a real estate company that supports the regime.
Rubio emphasized that there would be no safe haven for those seen as a threat to U.S. national security, vowing that they would be held accountable.
