Andrew Yang Claims Kamala Harris Campaign Blacklisted Him
Andrew Yang, the former Democratic presidential candidate and now independent, has alleged that Kamala Harris’ campaign has effectively blacklisted him in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
This revelation comes from an excerpt of his new book, “Hey Yang, Where’s My Thousand Dollars?”, which he shared with media in the UK. Yang, who was part of the 2020 Democratic primaries, stated that Harris’ team sidelined him following her call for Joe Biden to step back from the race after a debate with Donald Trump.
Yang expressed frustration, noting, “The Kamala Harris campaign has put me on a list of people who should not be used or mentioned due to the fact that I ‘crossed the line’ by disparaging Joe Biden.” He went on to say, “It’s just ridiculous. To be honest, I was kind of happy because if they had asked me to do something, I would have felt honored and obliged to do it. But I don’t know how much convincing I would have been able to do.”
Despite his grievances, Yang reiterated his support for Harris as a presidential candidate but labeled her campaign’s approach as indicative of a “cultural problem” within the party. He questioned the rationale, suggesting, “Who cares what I said four weeks ago if I’m doing everything I can to win?”
He also pointed out that Harris and other Democrats have similarly excluded figures like Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the party for not adhering to party norms, despite their previous support for liberal candidates.
Yang recounted that Kennedy had contemplated backing Harris before endorsing Trump after receiving a cold shoulder from her team.
Moreover, he claimed there is a similar mentality in the liberal media, mentioning he lost his role as a CNN contributor in 2021 after he decided to register as an independent. He wrote, “The news came out that I was no longer a Democrat. During this time, my agent called me and said, ‘Hey, CNN is rescinding its offer to you.'” He questioned, “Wouldn’t that make me more valuable, not less, as an objective voice?”
Yang hinted at a potential presidential run in 2028 under the Forward Party, which he co-founded. “There is a good chance I will run again,” he stated.
