Iran Warns of Retaliation Amid U.S. Pressure
As President Donald Trump urges Iran to strike a nuclear deal, the foreign minister of Iran has issued a stark warning that the country’s military is prepared to respond to any potential aggression.
Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi stated, “Our brave armed forces stand ready to respond immediately and forcefully to any aggression against our beloved land, air, or sea. The valuable lessons learned from the Twelve Days War have enabled us to respond even more effectively.” He emphasized that Iran is optimistic about the deal and has never aimed to develop nuclear weapons.
Araghchi went on to assert that Iran supports a fair nuclear agreement that respects its rights to peaceful nuclear technology without coercion. He insists that nuclear weapons have no role in Iran’s security strategy and that the nation has never sought to acquire them.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump warned that “time is running out” as U.S. warships position themselves in the Middle East.
The situation is intensifying, with operations in the Gulf being disrupted as the U.S. quietly strategizes, raising concerns about an “increased risk” of hostilities.
Trump noted the deployment of a massive naval fleet towards Iran, led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, describing it as more formidable than prior fleets sent to regions like Venezuela. He expressed hope that Iran would choose to negotiate a fair, non-nuclear deal, stating that urgent action is necessary.
Trump reminded Iran of prior consequences for ignoring negotiation opportunities, warning that any future military engagement would be far worse. He reiterated the significance of addressing the situation promptly.
In reaction, Iran’s mission to the United Nations highlighted the failures of U.S. military interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq, pointing out the immense financial and human costs. They expressed openness to dialogue based on mutual respect while making it clear that any aggression would prompt a strong defense from Iran.
