Explosion in LA County that claimed the life of a teenager may be linked to homemade explosives, according to a report.

A report indicated that a substance resembling homemade explosives and fireworks was discovered at the site of a fire and explosion in an apartment complex in Los Angeles County, which resulted in the death of a teenager.

Aerial images captured by FOX 11 Los Angeles revealed significant damage, with part of the roof destroyed at the Bell Gardens apartments following the explosion on Tuesday.

Authorities stated that the body discovered at the scene was identified as that of a 13-year-old who had been missing since the incident. Initial investigations revealed not only ammunition but also homemade explosives and materials associated with fireworks. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Division, specifically the Arson and Explosives unit, is involved in this ongoing investigation.

The identity of the teenager has not been disclosed yet.

According to FOX 11, the boy was a student at Suva Secondary School, which released a statement acknowledging the tragic event impacting the local community. They expressed their condolences to those affected during this tough time.

Over 60 firefighters were dispatched, and it reportedly took about an hour to bring the fire under control.

In addition to the fatality, officials mentioned that two other individuals were hospitalized—one child in stable condition and an adult in critical condition.
