Florida doctor charged with taking over $2,000 in goods from Target

A Florida physician was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to steal nearly $3,000 worth of items from a Target store while also operating a stolen luxury vehicle.

Lindsey Jay Minshew, 40, reportedly stole nearly $2,716.61 worth of goods from a Target in Jacksonville on January 16, as noted in records from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Minshew, who completed her training at the renowned Mayo Clinic in 2017, has been practicing in Florida since 2012. Interestingly, she holds an additional medical license in Pennsylvania, both of which are set to expire in January 2027.

The Target employee who alerted authorities about the alleged theft didn’t disclose the specific items taken or how their value was determined during the incident.

According to police, Minshew parked her black 2024 Porsche 911—worth over $130,000—in the Target lot about half an hour prior to entering the store. However, it seems the flashy vehicle itself was also reported as stolen.

When she attended her appointment on January 23, Minshew showed up with meticulously applied makeup, complete with bold pink lipstick and neatly styled bleached blonde hair.

She faces charges of grand theft, which pertains to amounts between $750 and $4,999. As of now, it remains unclear if she will face charges related to the stolen car.

It’s uncertain how this incident might affect her medical license.

In a related incident just a state over, an assistant principal from an elementary school in Georgia is accused of stealing 98 items valued at about $1,000 from Walmart using a self-checkout scheme.

These self-checkout systems depend heavily on surveillance cameras and vigilant employees to ensure all items are paid for. Courtney Janelle Shaw, 47, allegedly used a stacking method, scanning only the bottom item while placing several others on top before bagging them.

This apparent scheme involved multiple attempts to deceive the camera, with Shaw reportedly defrauding the store of $943.97 in partially paid merchandise during November and December.
