War department will be ready to support Trump on Iran, Hegseth states

Army Secretary on Iran’s Nuclear Threat

Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth addressed concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions, asserting that his department is “ready to accomplish whatever the president expects.” This statement came during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, following President Donald Trump’s warning to Iran that “time is running out” for a deal.

“They shouldn’t pursue nuclear capabilities,” Hegseth stated, emphasizing the Army’s preparedness to follow through with the president’s directives. He referenced a recent military operation that led to the capture of former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, describing it as an unparalleled feat. “No other military in the world could have executed such a sophisticated raid,” he continued, proud of the success achieved under Trump’s leadership.

Hegseth also suggested that Trump’s assertive tone reshapes how adversaries view the United States, contrasting it with past events in places like Afghanistan and Ukraine. He noted, “What happened on October 7 in Israel wouldn’t have occurred under President Trump,” highlighting the need to alter perceptions of American power.

As the discussion shifted, Hegseth mentioned the need for the U.S. to ensure all options are on the table with respect to Iran. He echoed Trump’s sentiments about a significant military presence in the region, with the leader describing an “armada heading towards Iran.” Trump commented on Iran’s military readiness and expressed hope for negotiations that would lead to a fair deal, free from nuclear weapons.

Hegseth wrapped up by recalling previous warnings to Iran, urging them to make a deal. He emphasized that failure to act could result in decisive military actions in the future. “The next attack will be much worse,” he added, underlining the seriousness of the situation.
