Lindsey Vonn’s Olympic Aspirations Amid Injury

Lindsey Vonn, a renowned figure in American skiing, injured her left knee in an accident on Friday but hasn’t officially pulled out of the Winter Olympics.

The U.S. ski team announced that Vonn fell while competing in a downhill event in Crans-Montana and is currently undergoing assessments. Vonn mentioned, “My Olympic dream is not over yet.”

Following a partial right knee replacement surgery in April 2024, Vonn took to Instagram to address her situation shortly after the incident.

“Today I fell during a downhill race in Switzerland and injured my left knee,” she posted. “I’ve talked to my doctors and team about this, and I will be having further tests.”

She added, “This is tough, especially just a week before the Olympics… but if there’s anything I need to do, it’s to bounce back.”

Vonn expressed gratitude for the support she has received, saying, “Thank you for all the love and support. I’ll update you as soon as I have more information.”

She also acknowledged the medical staff that assisted her, appreciating their incredible help.

In a video circulating online, Vonn was seen losing control after attempting to land a jump, resulting in a fall. She continued to ski down to a medical tent on her own before being airlifted to the hospital.

Having won 82 World Cup races and clinching the Olympic downhill title in 2010, Vonn came out of retirement late last year with hopes of competing in her fifth Winter Olympics.

The 2026 Winter Games are scheduled from February 6th to 22nd, with some events kicking off on February 4th.

Vonn also took a moment to express her thoughts for those who suffered injuries in recent accidents, including Marte Monzon, who had a high-speed crash on January 30.
