Draymond Green has racked up his 10th technical foul of the season, bringing his career total to 209, which includes the playoffs. This particular moment seemed to frustrate him more than usual.
The Golden State Warriors player was on the court for a game against the Detroit Pistons when an incident with referee JT Orr, who is white, caught his attention—especially since it coincided with his bobblehead night.
Green expressed his displeasure over Orr touching his face, emphasizing, “As a Black American, please don’t put your hands on my face.” He further elaborated, “I told him, ‘Hey, don’t put your hands on my face.’ I thought that was rather interesting given the context.”
In his post-game comments, Green reflected on the situation, remarking that respect is a two-way street. He recounted how Orr responded, suggesting that he should stop talking, and added, “If the line isn’t respected both ways, then it doesn’t feel right.” He hopes this will mark the last of such occurrences.
This recent ejection was actually Green’s 24th, placing him second on the NBA’s all-time ejection list, just five behind Rasheed Wallace.
Interestingly, Green now holds the record for the most technical fouls among active NBA players, having recently surpassed Anthony Mason. He still has some distance to cover to reach Dwight Howard and Dennis Rodman in the rankings.
