Investigation into Larry Krasner follows 'hunt down' threat against ICE

Krasner Faces Backlash for Comments Against ICE

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, who has received support from George Soros, is attracting criticism for his remarks on federal immigration enforcement. Republican lawmakers are calling for the Justice Department to investigate after Krasner stated he would “go after” ICE agents.

While speaking in Penn Square last week, Krasner labeled ICE agents as “a small group of wannabe Nazis.” He added, “If we need to pursue you, as they’ve hunted down Nazis for decades, we’ll uncover your identities.”

Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, condemned Krasner’s comments. He urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate these escalating threats, pointing out that under federal law, threats against federal employees can lead to felonies with up to 10 years in prison.

“The DOJ should definitely arrest and convict this man,” Steube remarked.

Krasner has previously expressed intentions to arrest federal agents who come to Philadelphia for alleged unlawful purposes, a reference to accusations surrounding a shooting incident involving a Minnesota woman who reportedly drove into an officer while disrupting an operation.

In remarks that further provoked Steube, Krasner emphasized that the 350 million Americans outnumber “a small group of wannabe Nazis” and offered to collaborate with prosecutors from other states to pursue legal action against these individuals post-Trump’s presidency.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Justice Department regarding Steube’s recommendations but did not receive a response. When asked about the controversy, White House officials directed inquiries back to the Justice Department.

Krasner’s party also showed disapproval, with Pennsylvania Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro labeling his comments as “unacceptable… abhorrent and wrong. Period.” Representative Dan Muser, a Republican from Pennsylvania, described Krasner as a “psychopath with a badge.”

Muser criticized Krasner for not adequately prosecuting violent criminals, mentioning a reported 30% prosecution rate. He stated, “All responsible Democrats must condemn this. Not doing so only raises the stakes, threatening both federal law enforcement and communities.”

Furthermore, Muser pointed out how some critics refer to Krasner as a “let ’em go rally” due to his stance on prosecuting non-immigration enforcement suspect cases. He is actively advocating for legislation to ensure prosecutors are held accountable for their actions and outcomes.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin classified Krasner’s remarks as “despicable,” noting a significant rise in assaults against ICE agents. “He is intentionally fanning the flames of division for political purposes. Calling law enforcement Nazis and inciting violence is simply terrible,” she added.

McLaughlin emphasized that the violence against law enforcement must cease, stating Krasner should be appreciative of ICE’s efforts in removing dangerous illegal immigrants from areas like the Delaware Valley.

Another prominent Pennsylvania Republican argued that Krasner’s attempts to challenge ICE’s actions could run afoul of the federal supremacy clause. He remarked, “The Constitution is not arbitrary.” State Senator Doug Mastriano suggested that Krasner might be more focused on political points than addressing the real violence affecting the city.

Reports indicate that Krasner’s successful 2017 campaign was notably backed by Soros, who has funded numerous liberal prosecutors across the nation. Meanwhile, Philadelphia officials aligned with leftist views have also proposed legislation aimed at restricting ICE’s operations in the city.

Fox News Digital has requested further comments from DHS regarding this ongoing situation.
