There’s some interesting bakery action happening in Altadena.
A long line has formed outside a local bakery, drawn in by colorful iced sugar cookies that feature bold anti-ICE messages on top.
The Altadena Cookie Company shared on Instagram that they plan to donate all profits from cookie sales to the Minnesota Women’s Foundation Immigrant Rapid Response Fund.
These cookies come with phrases like “ICE Out” and some a bit more explicit, targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It’s said that they also offered early bird discounts for those expressive treats.
Demand has skyrocketed, with over 140 cookies flying off the shelves in just 12 minutes—talk about a sweet rush!
As for the price? Each cookie costs about $6, which, I suppose, isn’t outrageous considering the cause.
Co-owner Michelle Taylor noted, “A lot of people feel the same way we do. We know how to make cookies, so that’s what we’re doing,” reflecting a mix of community support and concern over current immigration issues.
This past week, the bakery announced they would have more cookies available starting Wednesday. They also acknowledged the overwhelmingly positive feedback, while humorously bidding farewell to the few not-so-nice comments they received.
