Noem responds to Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish criticizing ICE at the Grammys: 'Misguided'

ICE Criticism from Celebrities at Grammy Awards

Recently, some well-known artists, including Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish, expressed their concerns about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during the Grammy Awards. In response, Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, described this criticism as “misguided.”

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Noem highlighted the character of ICE officers, noting that many live in the communities where they serve. “These officers help protect their neighborhoods by removing dangerous criminals from the streets. They go after individuals involved in serious crimes,” she stated while visiting the Mississippi National Guard facility. This visit came in the wake of Winter Storm Fern and involved discussions with various governors, FEMA officials, and military personnel.

Noem continued, pointing out that President Trump’s promises to enhance safety have been realized, as crime rates—including homicide—are at historically low levels. “People are experiencing the positive impact in their communities, so it’s unfortunate when a celebrity makes uninformed statements about our dedicated officers,” she said.

Music Stars’ Comments on ICE

During the Grammy ceremony, Billie Eilish used her platform to critique the Trump administration and ICE. Accepting the Grammy for Song of the Year, she declared, “Nobody is an illegal alien in stolen land.” Eilish expressed hopefulness regarding societal change, urging people to continue fighting and voicing their concerns. She added a personal apology to ICE, saying, “I’m sorry.” Eilish notably wore a pin reading “ICE OUT” during her speech.

Likewise, Bad Bunny took the chance to speak out against ICE during his acceptance speech for Best Musical Urban Album. He defended the humanity of immigrants, asserting that they are not “savages” or “aliens,” but rather humans and Americans.

These sentiments echo broader concerns and protests regarding immigration policy and the role of ICE, as seen in various demonstrations like the recent anti-ICE protests in Portland, which temporarily disrupted the streets.
