Chaos Erupts at Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting

A Los Angeles Police Commission meeting descended into disorder once again on Tuesday, with left-wing protesters openly criticizing city law enforcement. The commission’s president did not hold back, calling the police “pigs” and “rapists” for what she deemed a failure to uphold order.

This debacle has sadly turned into a weekly occurrence. As LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell attempted to present his regular report, he faced a barrage of insults from enraged demonstrators who interrupted him.

“This is terrible,” one protester shouted while McDonnell was addressing the public about the recent violence affecting the city.

Police Commission President Teresa Sanchez-Gordon made several attempts to restore order, yet her warnings were drowned out by the crowd’s hostile chants.

Rick Caruso, a previous mayoral candidate who served on the commission and even held the chair position, noted how the situation reflected a lack of control within the commission. “If you look from the outside, you can see that this commission has lost control of the chamber. That shouldn’t be tolerated. It shows weakness and incompetence in leadership,” he expressed.

The hostility was evident as soon as McDonnell started speaking. Demonstrators, particularly one known agitator named Jason Reedy, hurled personal attacks, openly branding LAPD officers as “pigs,” all while holding a young child strapped to him.

Sanchez-Gordon ordered one particularly vocal protester to exit the event. However, as the crowd began to disperse, he felt the need to yell, “You idiot, I’m leaving now. What’s the point? You can listen to us all day. I’m going home. Just shut up.”

While Sanchez-Gordon did not respond to inquiries regarding the disruption, Caruso pointed out that the city charter mandates commissioners control the environment of the meeting for public safety’s sake. “These are serious issues. If someone refuses to behave appropriately, we’ve removed them in the past. We need to establish that boundary or we risk losing control. And it seems that control is slipping away,” he warned.
