Sheriff Thinks Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Is Alive While Looking Into Ransom Note

Missing Case of Savannah Guthrie’s Mother

The sheriff in the Arizona county where Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC host Savannah Guthrie, went missing, expressed a belief that the 84-year-old woman is still alive. This statement came during an interview broadcast on NBC, where Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos mentioned that investigators are working under the assumption that she is safe.

Nanos remarked, “We don’t have to do anything but trust that she’s here. She’s here. She’s alive. We want to save her.” Nancy was last seen at her Tucson home on January 31. Sheriff Nanos noted that, while she doesn’t have cognitive issues, she requires daily medication, or else her health could be at risk.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Office at 520-351-4900. Nanos emphasized the importance of the tips they receive, stating, “These are valuable and we share them with the FBI and others.”

Law enforcement suspects that she may have been taken from her home unwillingly. Nanos commented, “When you’re taken from your bed and you don’t want to go anywhere, that’s kidnapping.” He added that there were concerning observations made at her home, and they are also examining security camera footage.

Nancy was reported missing after she did not attend church on Sunday. Reports indicate that the last communication from her pacemaker occurred around 2 a.m. that day, and her iPhone was left at home.

Multiple news outlets, including TMZ and local Tucson channels, reported receiving ransom notes demanding millions in Bitcoin for her return. However, the sheriff’s office has yet to confirm if these notes are genuine.

Authorities stated, “We take all tips and leads very seriously. Anything that comes in goes directly to detectives who are coordinating with the FBI.” Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie, who has been open about her faith, has requested prayers for her mother, expressing a belief in the power of prayer and community support.

In a heartfelt message on Instagram, she wrote, “Thank you for lifting up your prayers with us for our beloved mother, our beloved Nancy, a woman of deep faith, a good and faithful servant.” She concluded by invoking a biblical passage: “God will keep in perfect peace those who trust in the Lord.”

“Take her home,” she added, expressing a deep yearning for her mother’s safe return.
