Kayla Reid Criticizes Ryan Lochte’s Parenting Abilities
Kayla Reid, estranged from former Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, has openly criticized him for not being a good father to their three children.
The real estate agent and influencer spoke out regarding their ongoing divorce, which she filed for in March 2025. The couple had been married for seven years before deciding to end their relationship.
Reid commented, “Clearly, we’re not in a good place,” reflecting on their current situation.
“I genuinely hope he becomes the father our kids need,” she added, expressing her concerns.
She revealed that she tries to keep “minimum interaction” with Lochte, stating her desire for a divorce as they continue to navigate various disputes, including financial issues, in court.
“It might still take a while,” Reid, 34, acknowledged.
The couple shares an 8-year-old son named Kaiden and two daughters, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2. Reid mentioned that the children are “doing okay,” though they are experiencing some confusion and conflict about the situation.
Lochte hasn’t responded to requests for comment about the divorce.
The process has not been smooth. Reid had previously hinted at feelings of “betrayal” and accused Lochte of substance use in front of their children. In response, Lochte admitted to entering rehabilitation after a serious car accident in 2023 led him to a dark period characterized by depression and substance abuse.
According to court documents, the couple has accrued nearly $270,000 in debt during the divorce proceedings, including significant amounts owed to the IRS and a medical facility where Lochte was treated.
Lochte, now 41, is in a new relationship. Just months after Reid filed for divorce, he moved in with his girlfriend and her three children last month.
He stated that he is focused on being a better father, emphasizing that his recent efforts, including rehab and therapy, were aimed at improving his life for his kids.
“Everything I’ve done over the last 10 months has been for them, to be the father they deserve,” he noted, expressing gratitude for the progress he has made and the time he now spends with his children.
