Molly Gillihan, girlfriend of Ryan Lochte, made a pointed social media post after his estranged wife, Kayla Rae Reid, criticized his parenting abilities.
On Wednesday, shortly after Reid’s interview with People was canceled, she claimed Lochte wasn’t a “worthy” father. In response, Gillihan used her Instagram Stories to address what she described as “harsh and unkind people.”
Her message included, “Don’t regret being a good person. Your actions say everything about you. And their words and actions say everything about them.”
Her statement encouraged social media users to remain compassionate, especially during tough times, concluding with, “Be kind, even when they don’t deserve it, because God will protect you. Be kind.”
One of her posts featured a cheerful selfie with Lochte, showing them alongside their six children, proclaiming the joys of their blended family.
Gillihan humorously noted, “Finally got the perfect car for the whole crew!” referencing her family as the “#ModernBradyBunch,” even jesting that they were “accepting applications for Alice.”
She and Lochte, aged 41, went public with their relationship in July 2025, just a month after Reid filed for divorce.
Lochte has mentioned feelings of “betrayal” on Instagram, accusing Reid of using substances around their children. He later revealed that he had entered rehab.
The ex-couple, who got married in January 2018, share three children: Kaiden, 8; Liv, 6; and Georgia, 2.
Last month, Lochte and Gillihan started living together, claiming it was a significant step in their relationship. Lochte explained that their children had formed strong bonds, making cohabitation the logical next move.
He stated, “We needed a larger home to support our blended family. We are focused on creating a loving and stable environment for all of our children.”
Lochte had claimed to be trying his best as a father in recent months, but Reid criticized his parenting in a later podcast interview, expressing a hope that he would be the father his children need.
Reid acknowledged that the couple was not in a good place, mentioning that their children were experiencing some confusion regarding the situation. According to divorce papers, Reid and Lochte reportedly owe around $270,000.
