Trump Endorses Mark Teixeira for Texas Congressional Race
Former President Donald Trump has given his official endorsement to Mark Teixeira, a notable former Major League Baseball player who played 14 seasons with teams like the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees. This endorsement comes as Teixeira is running for Texas’ 21st Congressional District following Congressman Chip Roy’s decision not to seek re-election. Roy is now aiming for the position of Texas attorney general.
Teixeira began his campaign in August 2025, focusing on issues such as border security, energy independence, defense of the Second Amendment, and a stance against what he terms “radical woke indoctrination.” A conservative who has lived in Texas for many years, he has pledged to uphold “President Trump’s America First, Texas families, and personal liberties.”
On Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social to announce his support for Teixeira, praising him as “a total winner on and off the field.” In his post, he noted:
Mark Teixeira is a former Major League Baseball star and a great America First candidate running to represent the great people of Texas’ 21st Congressional District. I know Mark well, and he is a total winner on and off the field! An MLB All-Star, Mark’s career was filled with numerous honors and victories, including five Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards, and a World Series championship.
Mark is survived by his wonderful wife Lee and three beautiful children. In Congress, Mark will work hard to grow the economy, reduce taxes and regulations, promote MADE IN THE USA, unlock America’s energy advantage, secure our borders, stop immigrant crime, strengthen our military and veterans, ensure law and order, defend school choice, protect elections, and protect the Second Amendment, which is always under siege.

After the endorsement, Teixeira expressed his gratitude in a post on X, stating:

This endorsement seems to have energized Teixeira even further, as the list of his backers now exceeds 85, spanning elected officials, celebrities, and various advocacy groups. Notable supporters include University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines, along with House Majority Leaders like Steve Scalise (R-LA), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and August Pflueger (R-OH).
