Harris Changes Social Media Handle Amid Backlash
The team of former Vice President Kamala Harris swiftly updated the rebranded “Headquarters” X handle following a wave of online mockery.
During a video statement on Thursday, Harris revealed that “Kamala Headquarters,” originally linked to her unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign, will now simply be “Headquarters.” The newly updated X account, which is now “@headquotes_67,” seemingly references the popular “6-7” meme. Almost immediately after its announcement, the original handle faced significant criticism across social media.

Harris’ office has not responded to requests for comments.
In a recent post, the headquarters acknowledged the scrutiny by stating, “We’re counting down the days until you get your attention back to what actually matters,” in response to feedback about the handle change.

This announcement comes at a time when speculation is rife about Harris potentially running for the presidency for a third consecutive term in 2028. Some anonymous Democratic senators expressed their hesitation regarding the rebranding of her social media platform.
“Another meme-generating account! Wow, that’s groundbreaking,” remarked a former Biden-Harris staff member. They noted that the timing of Harris’ comments about the president felt a bit unsettling, especially with her currently on a book tour.
Additionally, a CNN panel critiqued the handle “@headquotes_67,” calling it “disgusting.” In a Substack post on Thursday, Harris emphasized the need for Democrats to enhance their communication efforts to engage all Americans, particularly Gen Z. She stated, “That’s why I decided to bring back Kamala HQ, the team’s social media operation.”
