Tim Scott Criticizes Trump for 'Racist' Meme Video of Obamas — President Removes It

Sen. Tim Scott Criticizes Trump for Controversial Post

On Friday, Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina condemned President Donald Trump for a now-deleted post on Truth Social. This post included a clip featuring former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama depicted as monkeys.

Scott labeled the content as “racist,” urging Trump to take it down. He expressed hope that the post was fake, describing it as “the most racist thing I’ve seen in this White House.” A White House official later stated that the video had been posted in error by a staff member and confirmed its removal.

The video in question showed the Obamas at the end of a clip that was part of an artificial intelligence meme. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt explained that the content depicted Trump as the king of the jungle while portraying Democrats as the next in line, dubbing him the “Lion King.”

Trump’s original post only included a portion of the sequence featuring the Obamas, and it was removed after about 12 hours. In the aftermath, Democrats, anti-Trump Republicans, and media analysts criticized the president’s actions. California Governor Gavin Newsom called the behavior “disgusting,” demanding Republicans to denounce it. As of Friday afternoon, Scott had not updated his social media account since the initial comments.
