Timothy Busfield Indicted on Child Molestation Charges

A grand jury in New Mexico has indicted Timothy Busfield on charges related to child molestation, specifically four counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor.

District Attorney Sam Bregman stated that the primary concern of his office is the protection of children. In a message shared on social media, he expressed the commitment of the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office to take all necessary actions to safeguard children and deliver justice to victims.

Busfield’s attorney has contended that the case against the actor, known for his role in “Thirty Something,” is unprovable in a courtroom.

Larry Stein, Busfield’s attorney, noted that the indictment was anticipated, mentioning a saying about grand juries being quick to indict. He expressed concern that the prosecution is pursuing a case devoid of sufficient evidence, emphasizing that no amount of indicting can cover the significant gaps in the state’s case. Stein also suggested that the motivations behind the prosecution might not be grounded in factual evidence.

At 68, Busfield was taken into custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest on January 13. He was initially held without bail on two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse. Stein firmly denied the allegations, stating that Busfield is determined to establish his innocence.

Busfield was released from custody on January 20, with the provision that he appears in court whenever required. A judge also instructed him not to communicate with witnesses and to avoid contact with minors.

The charges stem from accusations involving two 11-year-old twins who allege inappropriate touching on the set of the series “Cleaning Women.” According to the arrest warrants, one twin claimed that Busfield touched her inappropriately while they were alone. A medical professional later indicated that the children exhibited signs of having been groomed.
