Grandfather and Granddaughter Stabbed in Los Angeles
On Friday morning in Los Angeles, a 10-year-old girl and her grandfather were attacked while heading to school, according to police and local residents. It appears this was not an isolated incident, as the suspect has been a source of fear in their neighborhood for years.
At around 7:40 a.m., the grandfather, who is in his 70s, was driving his three grandchildren in Sunland when a man approached from behind and attempted to stab them. Reports indicate that two of the children managed to escape, but unfortunately, both the grandfather and the 10-year-old girl suffered stab wounds.
They were taken to a local hospital, where authorities say their conditions are stable, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department.
After the attack, the suspect reportedly stole a vehicle and fled the scene. Police later found the abandoned car several miles away, but the individual remains at large.
Residents have described the suspect, who is believed to be in his 30s, as living with his parents and having a history of troubling behavior in the community for many years. Some neighbors have recounted similar incidents, suggesting that there may have been a comparable stabbing in the area a few months prior.
Police noted that the suspect has experienced homelessness at times and may have mental health issues. Witnesses indicated that the ordeal began as an apparent carjacking, which raises further concerns about safety in the area.
