Nothing rattles a sports fan like discovering that their beloved TV character is cheering for the rival team. It’s even more frustrating when they find out a well-known celebrity, perhaps one who’s a bit on the “woke” side, is also part of that crowd.
For the upcoming game in Santa Clara, California, two big names have been confirmed to appear.
“I have officially declared Sunday’s Super Bowl ‘New England Patriots Appreciation Day,'” said singer Jon Bon Jovi. He has been a Patriots supporter since his favorite coach made the switch from the New York Giants to New England back in the 1990s. Meanwhile, actor Chris Pratt, famous for his roles in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World,” will be introducing the Seattle Seahawks. Growing up in Seattle since he was six years old, Pratt has always been a fan of the Seahawks.
With this lineup, fans will really know who to love or hate.
New England Patriots
From Boston, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are notable Patriots fans, along with Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg has expressed his backing for the team and even appeared alongside legendary quarterback Tom Brady in an episode of HBO’s “Entourage” back in 2009.
Celebrity reporter Maria Menounos is known for donning a Patriots costume over the years, and has even posted pictures with the team’s ownership group.
Famed superhero actor Chris Evans is also a dedicated Patriot supporter, alongside Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and the iconic British musician Elton John.
Seattle Seahawks
On the other side, Rainn Wilson from “The Office” and Will Ferrell, a comedian known for “Old School” and “Anchorman,” are enthusiastic Seahawks followers. Wilson hails from Seattle, whereas Ferrell recently paid a visit to a Seahawks team meeting.
From the music scene, rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot is a passionate Seahawks supporter, and fellow artist Macklemore is also known for his unwavering loyalty to the team.
Pop star Ariana Grande showed her fandom when she sang the national anthem at a Seahawks game in 2014.
Additionally, renowned trivia host Ken Jennings publicly supports the Seahawks, claiming that being a fan has positively influenced his life.
‘The Walking Dead’ star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has also proudly shown off his Seahawks spirit, especially since he was born in Seattle.
Meanwhile, Governor Bob Ferguson of Washington is also a vocal supporter of the Seahawks, just like some politicians from Virginia, who are unexpectedly cheering for them as well.
State Senator Aaron Rouse, a former NFL player, and Speaker of the House Don Scott have both expressed their allegiance to the Seahawks this Sunday. It seems their enthusiasm caught a local reporter off guard during a Friday morning prediction.
Interestingly enough, Rouse did not play for the Seahawks; he grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, played at Virginia Tech, and went on to play for teams like the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants.
As for President Trump, he’s recently acknowledged his support but tempered it with a vague comment, saying, “I can’t say that. But it’s a really good team.”
