'Full House' actor Dave Coulier encourages everyone to pay attention to cancer warning signs

Dave Coulier, known for his role in “Full House,” recently shared that he is now cancer-free. He credits his survival to early detection, having battled two cancer diagnoses within the last couple of years. In a conversation with Fox News Digital, he emphasized how regular check-ups allowed doctors to identify secondary cancers promptly, which he describes as transformative.

On Wednesday, Coulier announced he is in complete remission. The 66-year-old actor discussed his new business initiative, AWEAR Market, noting how being attuned to his body’s changes significantly helped him tackle cancer. He recalled instances where he saw warning signs but initially dismissed them, now urging others to be more attentive.

“Listen to your body. It often speaks to you,” Coulier remarked. “I wasn’t feeling great and lacked energy. One morning, while showering, I discovered a lump in my groin. Initially, I thought, ‘This could just be a cold or something minor.’ But if I hadn’t listened to my wife, Melissa, who insisted I contact my doctor, the situation could have turned out very differently. We caught it early.”

Coulier was diagnosed with HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer in October 2025, shortly after he celebrated his recovery from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. During a routine check-up and PET scan, doctors found an enlarged tumor that turned out to be unrelated to his previous condition.

After enduring 35 rounds of radiation and experiencing challenging robotic surgery, Coulier is finally on the mend. The realization of being in remission brought him intense relief. “Having battled two forms of cancer in such a short period takes a toll—physically, mentally, and emotionally,” he said. “I refused to allow cancer to strip me of my life.”

Coulier passionately advocates for early detection, explaining that identifying his second cancer early prevented further complications. “It would have been an entirely different battle,” he stated. He’s taken on the role of an ambassador for the V Cancer Research Foundation and engages with the NHL’s campaign against cancer. “Promoting early screenings, such as colonoscopies and mammograms, has significantly altered my perspective,” he added. “I never aimed to be the face of cancer, but I feel it’s my responsibility to encourage others. Early detection can be lifesaving.”

Though this advocacy may feel unexpected to him, Coulier also turned his focus to the AWEAR Market, driven by research into the lymphatic system. “I discovered that many of the products around me contained harmful substances,” he explained. As he became more aware, he found that everyday items, from toothpaste to skin care, were laden with toxins.

Yet, beneath this entrepreneurial journey lie deeper challenges. The cancer treatments forced Coulier to face vulnerabilities he hadn’t anticipated. He felt a societal pressure to maintain positivity, even when struggling to get out of bed. “Such experiences made me realize the support of loved ones is crucial,” he noted, praising his wife for her unwavering presence during tough times. “I felt burdened at times, especially as a man who believes in being the strong one for the family. Embracing vulnerability was a tough but necessary step in my battle.”
