Dave Portnoy explains why he is seldom seen with girlfriend Camryn D’Aloia

The attention around Dave Portnoy is increasing, but there are aspects of his life he prefers to keep out of view.

The Barstool founder shared insights into why he “rarely” goes out on dates with his girlfriend, Camryn D’Aloia, who is 22 years younger than him, in a recent interview with the Daily Mail.

Portnoy, known for being a divisive figure in sports media, indicated that both he and D’Aloia chose to keep their relationship low-key to shield her from the “yo-yos” and “idiots” he employs.

“She’s rarely with me,” Portnoy, 48, stated, with D’Aloia present during the interview. “People are crazy, and she doesn’t want to be around them, and honestly, I don’t want that for her either. Some of my employees are just not the sharpest tools in the shed, and I worry about what they might do if I step away.”

He elaborated, expressing concern for long-time employees he fears lack essential life skills. “If Barstool were to close, what would happen to these people?” he mused, describing them as having misguided priorities.

“Some of our associates are doing charity work,” he emphasized, “no doubt about that.”

Portnoy and D’Aloia were first seen as a couple in April 2024 while attending an NBA Finals game in Miami, with Portnoy confirming their relationship a year later.

D’Aloia, 26, has generally stayed out of the spotlight apart from a few joint outings, and her social media profile remains private.

Meanwhile, Barstool, often linked to a specific cultural vibe, continues to grow rapidly in the sports media landscape, with much of Portnoy’s life documented on camera.

Beyond his famous pizza reviews, he recently joined Fox Sports as a host for “Big Noon Kickoff,” a college football pregame show, and also makes appearances on FS1’s “Wake Up Barstool.”

Last December, Barstool secured an exclusive deal for a video podcast with Netflix, launching the service earlier this year.
