Jake Paul weeps as his fiancée Jutta Leerdam takes home gold at the 2026 Olympics

On Monday, boxer and influencer Jake Paul couldn’t hold back his tears after his fiancée, Jutta Lierdam, clinched gold in the women’s 1,000m speed skating event at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

Paul, 29, was visibly emotional, embracing both his mother Pam and Lierdam’s mother Monique in the stands at the Milan Speed Skating Stadium.

Lierdam, 27, not only won—she set a new Olympic record with a time of 1 minute and 12.31 seconds, surpassing her Dutch teammate Femke Kok, who earned silver after initially breaking the record with a time of 1 minute and 12.59 seconds in a prior race.

Miho Takagi from Japan took home the bronze, finishing in 1 minute and 13.95 seconds.

In an Instagram post celebrating Lierdam’s achievement, Paul stated, “My baby just set an Olympic world record,” and added, “So proud of you” in the caption.

A clip showed Paul lifting Lierdam as he jokingly bit on her gold medal.

He expressed his sentiments further, saying, “We’ve just witnessed one of the most important moments in sports history. Words can’t really convey how proud I am of you.”

The couple, engaged in Italy last March, shared a kiss as the moment was captured before the video concluded.

Lierdam previously won silver in the same event at the 2022 Beijing Games.

This time, she followed Takagi on the podium, while American Brittany Bowe secured third place.

Earlier this year, Lierdam faced challenges after a fall during the 1,000-meter Olympic Trials in the Netherlands last December, casting doubt on her participation in the Winter Olympics.

She managed to bounce back, taking second place in the 500m event.

Paul made the trip to the Netherlands to support Lierdam while dealing with his own recovery from surgery on a broken jaw sustained during a loss to Anthony Joshua in Miami back in December.
